 First-cycle study programme (engineer’s degree programme) - 7 semesters

Become a specialist in the field of Environmental Engineering capable of solving problems connected with designing, investment and exploitation.
You will obtain the knowledge, skills and competence in the field of protection of the natural environment; improvement of technical infrastructure of rural areas; reclamation of degraded and devastated land; safe waste management; and finally you will attain the skills indispensable to choose adequate methods and devices to employ renewable energy sources.
A considerable number of specialist courses e.g. Fluvial Engineering and Flood Control, Architecture and Engineering Construction, Construction Law, IT Basics in Designing, Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics, Water Management and Protection, Hydrology and Soil Science, Waste Management, and Soil Reclamation will prepare you for future work.
Strong interdisciplinary link between the knowledge of the nature and the technical knowledge is an outstanding feature of the study programme of Environmental Engineering.
The study programme of the first-cycle studies comprises of 40 obligatory modules, 14 elective courses, 6 specialist courses, 3 humanistic courses and a foreign language (taught throughout four semesters).
The study programme, especially its specialist modules, is concerned with the issues of protection, rational management and shaping of the natural environment in both the natural and anthropogenic regions; building and exploitation of structures and devices connected with environmental engineering; evaluation of the effects and the range of soil degradation as well as soil reclamation technologies; designing water intake facilities, sewage treatment plants, structures and devices of the sewage system; recycling and communal and industrial waste management technologies, and finally waste management economy.
A considerable part of the study programme is devoted to a vocational training in institutions connected with environmental engineering (municipal offices, public institutions, design offices and municipal economy enterprises, institutions monitoring environmental quality).
The two, final semesters are concerned with preparation of the Engineer’s Thesis which defence results in granting the student the title of an engineer.
Didactic teachers (especially those conducting major courses) have all the necessary qualifications, scientific achievements and didactic and practical skills acquired during long years of working in various research centres, participating in foreign internships and conferences. Some classes are also conducted by recognized practitioners.
Scientific achievements, experience in conducting research as well as didactic competence of the teachers of Environmental Engineering are adequate and ensure proper implementation of the study programme. Scientific works of the University employees, published in many distinguished Polish and foreign magazines, prove their academic competence.
Practical or field classes for the students of Environmental Engineering are organized in different types of specialized businesses and institutions e.g. numerous MPWiK facilities ( water intakes and water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, waterworks and sewage networks infrastructure), MPO, Kom-eco (garbage landfills, waste recycling and composting sites),  EC, industry planning companies, production, distribution and implementation companies, environmental protection units of self-government bodies and finally state administration units. 
Students are able and welcome to develop their scientific interests and passions in various organizations and student scientific societies (e.g. Water and Wastewater Management Scientific Society, and Environmental Engineering Scientific Society) taking active part in the research, seminars and scientific conferences. 
Having completed appropriate vocational trainings in implementing or in planning and preparing investments, the graduates may receive industry entitlements which allow them to be employed at independent and managerial positions. 
The graduate may be employed in design offices, municipal economy enterprises and entities, construction companies, and companies dealing with designing, implementation and operation of water and heating supply, sewage treatment, air quality protection and waste utilization and management.
