Plant health protection is an important and indispensable element of plant production technology. Its aim is to prevent the reduction of crops by diseases, pests and weeds as well as their protection in warehouses. A healthy plant means healthy food, what why the knowledge gained at the course medicine of plants allows you to care in a rational manner about the quality of the crop, sustainable development of the natural environment and human health.




Examples of subjects in the curriculum:

Plant diseases and pests (phytopathology and entomology), herbology, plant protection methods and techniques, genetics with biotechnology, advising and plant protection organization, the basics of integrated plant protection, mycotoxins and toxinogenic fungi, biological plant protection, economics of plant protection, computer programs in plant protection.



Skills and competences acquired:

A graduate of the faculty acquires the right to trade and use plant protection products and to conduct training in the field of integrated plant protection. In addition, he acquires skills in the area of:

•    Diagnosing plant diseases
•    Performing expert opinions at the request of plant and food producers
•    Development of crop protection programs in accordance with the principles of integrated plant protection
•    Conducting phytosanitary inspection
•    Proper selection of methods and means of plant protection and the use of specialized equipment for detecting and forecasting the appearance of pathogens and pests and performing plant protection treatments
•    Provision of consultancy services in the field of plant protection

•    Field and practical classes
•    Obligatory practices in domestic and foreign institutions (units of Main and Voivodeship Inspectorates of Plant Health and Seed Inspection Services, agricultural institutes, private consultancy and plant protection companies, agricultural advisory centers, quarantine laboratories, phytosanitary inspection points at border crossings, agricultural holdings and forest districts).
